In our garden the high perennial beds - with a few exceptions such as muddy or too early leaves completely overturning plants - all cut off last summer. This has the advantage that even now it looks lush and beautiful one is always surprised at times of a nice autumn color. The big disadvantage may also not be concealed: bulb to plant in full flower beds is a very, well, special task (this year I even cut a few perennials It would have been otherwise impossible.).
Agastache 'Black Adder' is even now still standing well and forms a great contrast to the other, more complete Forms of autumn perennials.
One bright spot is the small-and very airy Aster turbinellus. The flowers float like veils between other perennials (Calamagrostis brachytricha here is the neighbor), as the small leaves of the aster are not visually significant. this wild aster should be used more often!
This lawn was on 15 September sown and has been performing better than all the grass before, I have laid out very much loving and cast more often. The night dew prevented from September almost always sunny and dry out fully after a few Days it has grown well. Next year I will replace all defective parts lawn in the fall - a shame I did not understand before, then some parts were already beautiful garden!
